JUKKA Hooded Zip Jacket
Here's what 100% has to say about the JUKKA:
The JUKKA lightweight insulated jacket offers protection against the elements. Warm up in the mountains, city or at the track when rain and colder temperatures approach. The matte finish water resistant shell and custom metal logo badge give this classic jacket a modernized feel.
For the most part I have to agree. I picked up a JUKKA shortly after it's release and it might have taken a week for it to become my defacto outer layer for nearly every occasion.
I'm sure they say this about every local but it rings true in Austin that if you don't like the weather just wait a minute. Thirty degree swings from 6am to noon are not uncommon here and I find this this jacket to be the perfect accoutrement for a 45° morning yet still comfortable by the time it hits the low to mid 70°s. My wife thought me a fool for choosing this jacket with a Smartwool base layer over my heavy coat while walking my ass off in NYC in December and while I am no doubt a fool there were no regrets on this adventure. I am in fact wearing my JUKKA as I write this copy.
I wouldn't quality this a riding jacket for any situation other than tooling around on a slow 50 in the backyard. Hitting the ground at speed isn't what they meant by "protection from the elements".
The stock photo provided for this jacket is quite misleading. I was anticipating a high collar, dark olive with a burnt orange liner only to discover that it's hooded, the green is a shade light lighter with a hunters orange liner. The custom metal logo badge didn't make it to the final release, in it's place there is an understated fused rubber logo which I much prefer. I'm not one for tucking in my shirts and the Droptail hem keeping my tail warm during is a boon that will impact my future jacket purchases decisions forever more.
